About Us

In 1911, E. R. Humphrey founded the store. 1922, Charles P. Norton and William T. Gorham established Gorham & Norton, Inc. Now, over 100 years later, Charlie’s grandson John Tracy together with his wife, Diane, are proud third generation proprietors of this iconic store. John took over the store in 2004 from his father, Murray. John and Diane work hard to keep the store’s unique sense of place while adapting to the changing needs of its customers, both Berkshire residents and welcomed visitors.
Customers count on John to help them choose the best value and quality wine for their needs. The staff prides itself on serving a booming lunch business from the deli with old favorites and daily specials and great soup in the winter.
Gorham & Norton gift baskets with their signature yellow cellophane wrapping were one of the firsts of their kind in the Berkshires. Originally just a holiday item – the staff put together hundreds of them – now customers buy the gift baskets for all occasions.
Gorham & Norton is a proud member of the Southern Berkshire Chamber of Commerce.
